DEFENSE SECURITY ASSISTANCE AGENCY (DSAA) NAME CHANGE [The following is a reprint of SECDEF Washington DC/USDP:DSAA message 301846Z Sep 98 subject as above.]

1. Effective 1 October, DSAA officially changed its name to Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA). DSCA gains execution responsibility in Humanitarian Assistance/Demining missions and other cooperative defense programs. This new alignment stems from Secretary Cohen's Defense Reform Initiative.

2. These new execution areas complement our previous security assistance role and should provide added quality support to our worldwide U.S. customers and foreign counterparts.
