(Defenselink -- July 16, 2003) General Electric Aircraft Engines, Lynn, Mass., is being awarded a $510,000,000 performance-based logistics (PBL) contract for repair and replacement of 26 internal engine components for the F404-400/402 engine (F/A-18 aircraft). Work will be performed in Jacksonville, Fla. (70%), and Lynn, Mass (30%), and is expected to be completed by December 2008. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This announcement includes foreign military sales potential (less than five percent) with the countries of Switzerland, Finland, Spain, Kuwait, Canada and Australia. This contract was not competitively procured; General Electric Aircraft Engines is the only qualified source of supply for this PBL contract. The Naval Inventory Control Point is the contracting activity (N00383-03-D-011M).
