(Defenselink -- February 26, 2004)  Alliant Defense Electronics Systems Inc., Clearwater, Fla., is being awarded a $21,490,291 modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-priced contract (N00019-98-C-0006) to exercise an option for AAR-47(V)2 sensor upgrade hardware weapons replacement assemblies, consisting of 1,864 optical sensor converters with laser warning capabilities for the Navy (1,140), Air Force (340), Taiwan (276), Italy (100) and Canada (8); 225 computer processors for the Navy (69), Air Force (85), Taiwan (69) and Canada (2); 208 control indicators for the Navy (125), Air Force (81) and Canada (2); and 246 computer processor kits for the Navy (221) and Italy (25). Work will be performed in Clearwater, Fla., and is expected to be completed in October 2006. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The procurement combines the purchases of the U.S. Navy ($12,456,319; 57.96 percent), U.S. Air Force ($4,637,322; 21.58 percent) and the governments of Taiwan ($3,327,368; 15.48 percent), Italy ($959,543; 4.47 percent) and Canada ($109,739; .51 percent) under the Foreign Military Sales Program. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
