(Defenselink -- March 23, 2004) General Electric Co., Lynn, Mass., is being awarded a $22,991,800 estimated-value order against a previously awarded cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract (N00019-03-D-0003) for component improvement program services for F404-GE-400/402 engines for the Navy; the Defense Supply Center Richmond (DSCR); and the governments of Singapore, Spain, Canada, Finland, Australia, Switzerland, Sweden, Kuwait, and Malaysia.  These services include engineering support and testing to resolve readiness problems, maintain performance, redesign low reliability parts, and forecast hardware wear-out rates, life limits, and problems before they occur.  Work will be performed in Lynn, Mass.  (68 percent); Evendale, Ohio (10 percent); Trolhattan, Sweden (10 percent); various locations across the United States (6 percent); Cincinnati, Ohio (3 percent); and Montreal, Canada (3 percent); and is expected to be completed in December 2007.  Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  This contract combines purchases for the U.S. Navy ($12,283,500; 53.43 percent); DSCR ($398,800; 1.73 percent); and the Governments of Singapore ($2,591,500; 11.27 percent); Spain ($1,472,400; 6.40 percent); Canada ($1,349,800; 5.87 percent); Finland ($1,327,300; 5.77 percent); Australia ($1,030,900; 4.48 percent); Switzerland ($938,000; 4.09 percent); Sweden ($937,000; 4.08 percent); Kuwait ($550,200; 2.39 percent); and Malaysia ($112,400; 0.49 percent) under the Foreign Military Sales Program.  The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
