(Defenselink -- 9 February 2005) Kollmorgen Corp., Electro Optical Division, Northampton, Mass., is being awarded a $13,750,000 firm-fixed-price modification to exercise an option under previously awarded contract (N00024-05-C-4032) for 11 MK 46 Optical Sight Systems (OSS). The MK 46 OSS is an electro-optical sensor system integrated as an element of the MK 34 Gun Weapon System (GWS). The MK 46 OSS is capable of accepting target designations from, and providing target angle track and range data to the gun computer system of the MK 34 GSW. Work will be performed in Northampton, Mass., and is expected to be completed by Dec 2007. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This modification combines support of the United States Navy and Coast Guard (72.7 percent), and the Governments of Korea (18 percent) and Japan (9.3 percent) under the Foreign Military Sales program. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
